I also posted this issue on the PGB forum, but so far no one there with a possible solution. I've had this issue for about 2 weeks now, have not been able to get a successful Windows 10 build.
When I build a windows 10 app without a certificate, the build succeeds. Then, I've followed the documented steps to create a selfsigned pfx file. However, once I add the pfx file to my signing keys, unlock it and select it for my app, the build fails. The output below is shown in the log:. My "Personal" CertUtil: -delstore command completed successfully.
After some googling, I found this specific issue being reported before on this forum and on github.
Cannot import certificate as CSP
It looked as if the issue was fixed by PGB staff based on the replies, but I'm still running into this. The strange this is also that I have had a few successful builds with this same pfx file, so it seems to occur a bit at random.
The app I'm working on is ID I'm using cli I'm targeting arch. I've tried to use the certificate manually for code signing, that works fine, so the certificate is ok. Also note that I've tried this both with and without plugins configured. I am getting this too. It is random. Most of the time it fails, but if I keep trying it occasionally builds. Could someone comment or ideally fix this? Not sure if it's the actual solution, but for me, if I used the Publisher ID as the Common Name of the certificate, it worked but only in the second time I tried to compile Note: The "xxxxxxxx.
Has anyone found a solution for this problem? Our settings are as above. Any assistance appreciated. I also have this problem. I believe PhoneGap Build is unmaintained at this point based on the numerous issues with it that go unresolved.
I was also getting this problem but was able to solve by running the certUtil command on the same path on which i had generated the the.
Created a certificate using makeCert. Now while registering the certificate if you try to run certUtil command from and different location other than where you generated the key it is unable to locate the file.
So to add your certificate run the command from the same location. I dont know the complete reason behind this but problem can be that it fail to import the certificate if run from different location or some parameter might be missing in the command.
NOTE If you still face the issue use ss -root int the end of makeCert command while generating the. Skip to content. Comm DistributionPointCommand. Not long after proceeding I realised that I needed to alter certain aspects of the way it was configured. The article implicates permissions, however this is a red herring. It took a lot of trial and error, but eventually I did resolve this issue thanks to some pointers in a Microsoft Directory Services Team Blog post on troubleshooting Certificate Enrollment.
I determined the root cause — several superfluous entries in Active Directory for an aborted CA installation. I had thought this entry was sane when I was looking back over the ADSIEdit output while investigating the problem — because I know it formats the cert request using this notation.
I removed this old name entry from Active Directory and it immediately fixed the issue. I guess because although it was for a different CA installation attempt, crucially it shared the same server hostnamehence the problem when PowerShell was invoking Certificate Services to query the Directory Service.

In every case, installation fails with the following log snippet:. I believe error 0x indicates an incorrect password, however I have used the Get-PfxCertificate in PowerShell to verify that the password I am using is correct. Server Fault is a question and answer site for system and network administrators. It only takes a minute to sign up. On 2 of my servers, the import fails like so:. We originally imported this PFX use the MMC snap-in, which appears to work, as no errors are reported and the certificate shows that it has a Private Key when opened, but with our.
NET application we were getting an error about not having the Private Key. We assumed Private Key permissions and added the correct permissions for our App Pool. This made no difference. We have imported and deleted several times trying to fix this. I've done MD5 checks on the files so check they are the same they were and I have also copied them back from the system that wasn't working the original copied file not an export and that still works elsewhere. Every Google search that we performed always returned the same basic answer, something relating to permissions of the Private Keys Eventually we tracked the problem down after using WinHttpCertCfg.
He only added a new permission and didn't change the existing ones, but this somehow broke the import of certificates. When the additional permissions were removed it started working again. Very much doubt others will have this same issue, but thought it worthwhile to answer rather than delete or close the question as it might one day just help someone else out.
